JulIA ESTRADA

ACTOR | SINGER | CREATIVE STRATEGIST

about julia

Julia Estrada is a Broadway actor and creative strategist hailing from Northern Virginia.
A former competitive runner and swimmer, she discovered in theatre a new channel for the same discipline, focus, and emotional curiosity that defined her early years. That approach carried her through years of performing, including several on the national tour of Hamilton, but eventually led to burnout. In search of a different relationship to her work, Julia turned to the study of human behavior and went on to earn her MS in Organizational Psychology.

Today, she brings that research to life as a creative strategist, developing programs and initiatives that strengthen arts organizations and enrich artistic communities. She fell in love with Louisville, Kentucky, while performing there with Hamilton, and now splits her time between Louisville and New York City. She continues to perform while collaborating with Kentucky-based arts organizations to explore rural and regional arts strategies. Her work bridges the commercial arts landscape of New York with the evolving creative ecosystems of the American South and Midwest.

allOimpact

Julia co-founded AlloImpact in 2025 with Lisa Estrada, a consulting firm that helps arts and health organizations thrive through creativity and strategy.
She explores how the same curiosity that fuels great art can shape the systems that sustain it. Through program design, strategic planning, and leadership development, Julia works with teams to turn ideas into structure, collaboration into progress, and inspiration into measurable impact.

AlloImpact draws its name from allophilia, a term coined by Harvard researcher Todd L. Pittinsky to describe the “liking or love of the other.” Rooted in the idea that true inclusion is more than tolerance, allophilia invites us to cultivate genuine curiosity, connection, and positive regard across difference.
— Definition adapted from Todd L. Pittinsky, Allophilia and Intergroup Leadership, Harvard Kennedy School, 2005.

The scene study series at actors theatre

Julia is the co-creator and co-lead of The Scene Study Series at the historic Actors Theatre of Louisville, developed in collaboration with actor Devin McCarthy. The class is part of a larger effort to nurture and train local talent in Louisville, built on the belief that the city is home to extraordinary artists deserving of continued investment and opportunity. Together, Julia and Devin lead a four-week series that centers on presence, connection, and creative play, inviting participants to explore character, strengthen emotional versatility, and rediscover the joy of performance in a supportive, collaborative environment.

twit: a stop motion short by roy taylor

Julia collaborated with Louisville-based animator Roy Taylor (aka Paperwork Films) on his short film twit, contributing bird sounds and vocals to the project. The film takes an anthropomorphic and poetic look at birds, playfully exploring themes of tribalism and polarization. Julia continues to collaborate with Taylor on his upcoming feature film. Their work together, and Taylor’s animation process, were recently featured in a documentary short by director John Akre.

Singing for the Actor at

Walden Conservatory

Julia designed and teaches the Singing for the Actor course at Walden Conservatory, created for students ages 15–18, many of whom are new to singing. The class introduces foundational vocal techniques while exploring the physical effects of stress and anxiety that often arise when trying something new. Through guided reflection and awareness-building exercises, students learn to recognize these sensations as part of the creative process and transform them into energy, presence, and play. The course fosters a supportive environment where singing becomes a joyful and empowering tool for self-expression, confidence, and connection.

Julia Estrada: Live at The Monarch

Julia disappointed some who confused her cabaret at The Monarch Music and Arts Community for a burlesque show. To their surprise, she spent the hour singing musical theatre tunes with Louisville pianist Reece Johns, weaving in personal stories and a touch of psychology. The performance was the first of its kind at The Monarch and drew a record-breaking audience, who left reflecting on their connection to the world of Broadway and the art of storytelling.

Julia sings “Being Alive” from Stephen Sondheim’s Company as a part of The Monarch Living Room Series hosted by Henry Stansall of The Ruen Brothers.
